Creative Warsop is about empowering people and extending the range and reach of training opportunities in Warsop Parish.

It is about increasing access to creative learning, so people can learn in a fun social environment.

Caroline Hughes has been a tutor in adult education for 15 years and a Volunteers Co-ordinator in the arts. Caroline lives in Warsop and says  “I am enthusiastic about this project as I was originally inspired through teaching a mosaic group in Warsop where I noticed the many benefits that people achieved through working together and sharing skills”. Caroline will be delivering all the learning opportunities on the project.

The project is financially supported by Big Warsop to offer opportunities for all residents in Warsop Parish aged 19 and over. The taster sessions (delivered through WEA and funded by Nottinghamshire County Council Community Learning and Skills Service) are free and will be held in an accessible space at Infotech.

Creative skills: You could have a go at free taster session then develop confidence to go on a course held at Infotech or the Hub in creative, recycling and horticultural sectors.

Volunteering: You might join a fun and worthwhile group of volunteers where your new skills will help build a great community by improving all sorts of outdoor spaces in Warsop.

Creative Learning Taster Sessions

In February 2017 there will be 10 craft taster sessions to choose from. For example you can recycle broken beads, bits and bobs create crafts from junk, explore resistant materials with adhesives, mosaic techniques. You can have a taster in creating recycled garden sculpture, taking herb cuttings, making pot pourri and natural cosmetics.

Creative Volunteers

November 2017 – will see the formation of a new Creative Volunteers group. Using these great new skills and confidence to make a difference in your community, the group will then be equipped to begin a transformation of Warsop Outdoor spaces. Some ideas might be these; –

    • Creation and upkeep of a herb and art garden at the Hub community centre.
    • Creation of mosaic at the Carrs or the library, celebrating the locality and its place in the world and featuring recycled materials.
    • Form an allotment group, participate in a Totally-Local campaign to support the local economy.
  • Grow and manage free veg and herbs in high street containers to promote healthy eating.

Have fun while you learn!
